Confluence in Summer - Limited Edition Print

Confluence in Summer depicts the meeting point of the Taruheru and Waimata Rivers in Gisborne and their altered flow out to Poverty Bay. This Hopper-esque painting is a nod to the idyllic state we expect the rivers to be in Summer. However, as Cyclone Garbrielle reminded us, all is not as it seems. The painting is a documentation of how man has tamed the natural environment for the benefits of commerce but which can be of ultimate detriment to humans.
